2019 Vegas to Reno

We started 4th off the line and knew that we needed to make up some ground early in the race. We wanted to get out front and hopefully have a chance at putting a gap between us and the rest of the field before our scheduled driver change at pit 10. A couple miles into the race we went around 2925, and then passed a broken down car and shortly after went around Mobbin’ Racing changing a flat. We were running physically first shortly after pit 1. Pulling into pit 3 we had a flat on the front left due to a driving error (the track was COVERED with huge rocks). In a hurry to get back out after Mobbin’ came back around us in the pit, I left without our jack. Knowing that we had no way of changing a flat we took it a little slow to avoid having to ride into another pit with a flat. At pit 5 we had checked out on most of the field and were running our race swapping places back and forth with Mobbin for 1st on corrected time. The desert heat was starting to get to driver Josh and Caleb and we got on the radio to let Mike and Gomez know that we would be doing a driver swap at pit 8 instead of 10. When we pulled into pit 8 to take fuel and do a driver/co-driver swap we had another flat due to a huge rock we had hit. The pit took us longer than expected, but we did what we could. With Mike and Gomez in the car we were off again. The game plan at this point was to just maintain a good pace and see what happened. We had a considerable gap on third place and were keeping up with 1st, but not close enough to reel them in. Mike and Gomez did an awesome job taking us into the finish in a solid 2nd place finish! We can’t thank them and our amazing friends/family that came out to help chase.
